Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Adarsha Mahavidyalaya (PDUAM), Behali celebrated the National Science Day – 2023 by organizing various event spanning through three days from 25th February to 28th February. These events were organized jointly by the Department of Physics & Chemistry in association with Internal Quality Assurance Cell of PDUAM Behali. On the first day i.e 25th of February an outreach programme to Mijika High School was organized. The objective of the programme was to sensitize the school students about the importance of National Science Day and enrich their minds through various scientific experiments to inculcate a scientific temperament amongst them. The programme was conducted by the faculties and degree students of Department of Physics and Chemistry and was attended by around 150 students of Mizika HS along with their teachers. An inaugural address highlighting the objective of the programme was delivered by Mr. Arunav Phukan, Head Department of Physics. It was followed by a lecture on National Science Day – 2023 and about CV Raman by Mr. Rajesh Mandal, Head Department of Chemistry. It was then succeeded by experimental demonstrations by students and faculties of Chemistry and Physics.
The second day, 27th February, comprised of a popular lecture by Dr. A Senorita Devi, Associate Professor, Department of Physics, Manipur University & Visiting Associate, IUCAA Pune. This lecture was conducted in online mode and the speaker shed light on the topic “Composition of the Universe”. It was followed by the annual quiz event of science day “Scientia-2.0” and an innovative idea competition.
On 28th of February, two popular talks were delivered by Dr. Ramesh Chandra Goswami, eminent author and academician and by Shri Dhaneswar Bora, noted academician of Biswanath. They highlighted on the works of Sir CV Raman and on the also theme of National Science Day for the year 2023 i.e “Global Science for Global Well Being”. Their talk was preceded by commemorating Sir CV Raman through lighting of lamp and a welcome address by Principal PDUAM Behali Dr. Debojit Baruah. The event was concluded by couple of cultural performances by students of PDUAM Behali.
