The Department of History, PDUAM Behali was established in the year 2023. The department aims at achieving academic excellence while fostering higher education and research as well as to provide better learning facilities for studying and understanding various aspects of Indian as well as world history. The courses offered in the department will enable the students to have a critical understanding of the past so as to have a better outlook of the present as well as the future. By using modern teaching-learning methods and mechanism the department commits to impart quality education. The department presently offers both Honors/Major and General courses in semester system as per NEP 2020 Curriculum.
Mission & Vision
- The department attempts to impart value based and quality education by employing empirical methods of teaching and learning. The students will be exposed to new trends and ideas of history writing and learning through discussion and interactions with scholars and academicians.
- The department aims to promote participatory method of learning by conducting seminars, conferences, workshops, quiz competitions and group discussion. By undertaking academic tours to historical places, archaeological sites and museums, the department attempts to actively engage the students in understanding the past and its legacies.
- By employing a comprehensive curriculum, the department is keen in developing interdisciplinary enquiry in the field of history. Such measures shall enhance the sphere of history learning and understanding by including various fields in the realm of historical studies, such as archaeology, anthropology, gender studies, cultural studies etc.
- By imparting a wide range of professional learning that encompasses various aspects of the society, economy, culture and religion, the department seeks to train and facilitate its students with a wide range of career opportunities.
- The department seeks to prepare the students for further studies in History and its allied disciplines.
